Stimulating tissue with sound waves

Cheatle Chiropractic, located in Massillon, Ohio uses ultrasound treatments as an alternative pain management technique.

What is Ultrasound Therapy?

Ultra sound therapy is the use of sound waves above the range of human hearing to treat musculoskeletal problems, especially inflammation such as tendinitis and bursitis. The use of ultrasounds in chiropractic treatment is common practice. Ultrasound treatments are performed simply by applying sound waves that are not audible to the human ear to the injured area of the body. The vibration and heat caused by the ultrasound stimulates the tissue and increases circulation to the affected area. This results in decreased pain, increased flexibility, and speeds up the healing process.

Therapeutic ultrasound techniques can also be used to relax certain muscles that are too tight to allow for proper manipulation. Ultrasounds can be used in combination with other treatments such as Heat Therapy and Cryotherapy as an alternative treatment for pain management.
